The Best Luxury Resort at Walt Disney World 2021: The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

April 26, 2021

The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

Elegant. Extravagant. Exquisite. That’s how I describe the most luxurious resort at Walt Disney World in 2021: The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. It’s close to perfect in every way.

Since it opened in 1988, The Grand Floridian, or “Grand Flo” as the pros call it, has been one of the staples of luxury resorts at Walt Disney World forever. It’s charming, whimsical aesthetic mixed with the ultimate in grandiose luxury, makes for a spectacular resort experience. And beyond the gorgeous decor, the fact that this resort is on the monorail loop and can get you to the Magic Kingdom is less than 3 minutes – say what?! The only place to stay closer to the Magic Kingdom would be to sleep in Cinderella’s bed – and I’m not sure that’s allowed.

Room

The rooms are clean, quaint and charming, sprinkled with a combination of Alice and Mary Poppins. Just beautiful and so comfortable.

Try to splurge on a room with a view of the water or a theme park view – trust me: it is worth every penny. Opening your eyes in the morning and seeing the monorail pass by, is magical in every way. To sit on your balcony eating mickey waffles (the BEST MWs in all the land – superior to all the others), drinking their perfect mimosa concoction, The Grand Mimosa (it’s heavenly), while watching the sunset over the monorails whisking people to Magic Kingdom, is my idea of a perfect moment (#monorailsandmimosas). But wait, there’s more! The experience of viewing the electric boat parade from your own balcony, is truly a bucket list moment. So, yes, get the room with a view. Period.

Also, regular maid service is not available right now – but it can be requested if you want – so just be sure to ask for it, if it’s something you need.

Restaurants

Narcoosee’s is the classic seafood / steak house overlooking the Magic Kingdom – you can’t go wrong coming here for a great steak and a cocktail. And the Grand Floridian Cafe has all American cuisine for everyone in the family – and the food is great, especially the miso glazed fish. Unfortunately, the superb Victoria and Albert’s is closed right now, but will most likely be opening soon. Lastly, the room service is excellent. It is a limited menu right now but has the only thing that’s really important: EPIC mickey waffles.

Hands down my favorite food establishment here right now is The Enchanted Rose bar – it’s soooooo romantic. It’s literally like walking into a scene from Beauty and the Beast. Be sure to order the magical star cocktail (comes with a glow cube – YEA!) and grab a seat on the patio which overlooks Bay Lake, The Polynesian and the pool. And you must order the truffle fries – trust me… just do it.

Pool

The pool at the Grand Flo is lovely and fun for both adults and kids – there are many places to relax and chill as well as a super fun water slide and pool bar. There are also wonderful lake side beach chairs and loungers to relax on and watch the Magic Kingdom ferryboat glide by.

Of course, one of the main reasons to stay here is the incredible access to The Magic Kingdom – It’s literally a 3 minute monorail ride away. So if your family is obsessed with MK, and who isn’t?, this is your resort.

Overall, this resort excels at everything – beautiful decor, amazing service and fantastic views. Even during 2021, when things are just starting to get back to normal, you can count on the Grand Flo for an absolutely magical Disney experience.

xoxo,

Alex
